About The Blog

I have had a personal website or blog for quite a number of years (since 1997, actually) as a way to pass along interesting links, or sometimes just as a means for venting. Many of my past links, posts, and book suggestions have been health-related, because my own health has never been great and I have spent much time researching the subject just to keep life in the modern world from doing me in. These days I am more focused on looking behind the curtain at what’s really going on around us. I hope to have more interesting things to share in the days ahead.

About Me

I worked as a corporate or academic application developer or systems programmer for more than 40 years, and I have been programming and consulting for 50+ years and continue to do so. I wrote my first computer programs in the fall of 1968. My professional blog can be found at Sql2Go.com.

I have also been a religious seeker who has sought within a good many different traditions, ultimately returning back where I began, Christianity. It was a scenic and interesting tour, but not one that I would particularly recommend to others.

Outside of work I am interested in genealogy,  and I do church and parachurch/community volunteer work as I am able, though I am not as able as I used to be. 🙃

To contact me privately, use “Contact Megan” under Home on the website menu. It might still work. The website is getting old too.

  1. Hey there, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, wonderful blog!

    • IE comes in many flavors, each unique in its quirks and in how it displays a web page. Which version are you using?

I do see a few issues myself, the most obvious of which is that my front-page tag cloud seems to have evaporated. It is still configured but it just doesn’t show. Maybe it’s time to redesign the header.

  2. Hi! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from
an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog?
I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions? Thanks

    • If installing software on web servers isn’t something you do regularly then you might want to look at something like creating a blog at wordpress.com. I believe you can have them host it and still buy your own domain name and have it point to the blog, although I haven’t tried it.

I am somebody who configures web servers regularly, so I downloaded WordPress, installed it on my hosting service server, and bought a commercial theme to go with it. Just getting it to work isn’t extremely difficult if you already know your way around, but making the website look the way you want it to can be a little tricky.
